What is a Giclée Print? And Why Should I Want One?
All my original art and photo prints are done through the giclée (pronounced “jhee-clay”) process.
The French word “giclée” is a noun that means a spray or a spurt of liquid. The word may have been derived from the French verb gicler meaning “to squirt”.
A giclée print is an advanced technology digital inkjet print. It is made using a combination of pigmented inks usually on archival substrates (paper/canvas). All giclée prints are made using archival, pigmented inks.
The inkjet printer literally blends the colored inks as it prints to produce seamless, highly detailed prints of stunning color and detail.
A giclée print on archival paper should not fade for a minimum of eighty years! The best advantage, however, is the high-quality reproduction of the original artwork. I also offer the option to have the print or photo done on non-archival paper, but it’s still the giclée process and the print quality is the same.
